Just 15 minutes east of Peterborough lies the quaint village of Keene, Ontario, home to the beloved Keene Pumpkin Festival, an annual family event that has been delighting visitors since 2007. With activities for all ages, it’s a perfect way to embrace the beauty and charm of fall in the countryside.
Set against the backdrop of Keene’s rolling hills, the festival features a variety of fun attractions. One of the main highlights is the giant pumpkin weigh-off, where you’ll witness enormous gourds tipping the scales at over 1,000 pounds! The festival’s iconic decorated pumpkin pyramid is a sight to behold, and kids will love the Kid Zone complete with bouncy castles, face painting, and a host of engaging activities.
Families can also enjoy the mini bale maze, visit the petting zoo, and take scenic horse and wagon rides through the countryside. For a bit of excitement, don’t miss the lively Hot Diggity Dog performances. With local vendors offering a wide range of unique products and delicious foods, there’s plenty to shop and eat throughout the day.
Adults can unwind in the Lions Pub, enjoying refreshing drinks and live music on stage. Additional attractions include quilt raffle draws and an antique car and tractor show, rounding out a full day of country hospitality at its best.
